Nonprofit supports the children and young adults who have family members affected by ALS
(Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) with free weekend camp
Pennington, NJ – 26 April 2022 – The media is invited to a free camp for children and young adults who have or have had family members battling ALS. It is happening from May 13-15 at Fairview Lake, YMCA in Stillwater Township, New Jersey.
May is also ALS Awareness Month. We can set you up with an interview before the camp with the founder of our nonprofit, Jodi O’Donnell-Ames, either in person or over zoom. If you'd like to interview additional people, we can set that up as well. We can talk about our free camp, our plans for ALS Awareness Month, and the importance of ALS Awareness.
Camp Hope Loves Company (HLC) offers so many fun experiences - including hikes, games, zip lines rock climbing, boating, fishing, a ropes course, archery, and much more. Even more important, children attending will all have something in common and can build new friendships and feel less alone in their challenges.
The camp program is free to 75 plus children and their families affected by ALS in the tri-state area and beyond. It is a sleepover weekend retreat.
Hope Loves Company (HLC) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to supporting children and young adults who have family members living with ALS. It is the only nonprofit with this specific mission. HLC founder Jodi O’Donnell-Ames, HLC president Gary Bachrach, and their team have hosted close to 40 Camp HLCs across the nation since 2012.
Founder Jodi O’Donnell-Ames has three children – now all young adults – who have lost a parent to ALS before turning 12, so she knew from personal experience how ALS affects a family, especially children.
