Nonprofit supports children and young adults who have family members af ected by ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) with free camp
September 6, 2022 – The media is invited to a free virtual camp for children and young adults who have or have had family members battling ALS. It is happening Friday, September 16 and Saturday, September 17 via zoom. Activities will happen between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. EST on Friday, and between 12:30/1:00 p.m. and 4:30/5 p.m. EST on Saturday.
Camp Hope Loves Company (HLC) offers so many fun experiences. There will be a campfire and sing-along, art, music, yoga, tie-dying, s’mores, and so much more. Even more important, children attending will all have something in common and can build new friendships and feel less alone in their challenges.
The camp program is free to children, who have or had a parent with ALS, an incurable disease.
Hope Loves Company (HLC) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to supporting children and young adults who have family members living with ALS. It is the only nonprofit with this specific mission. HLC founder Jodi O’Donnell-Ames, HLC president Gary Bachrach, and their team have hosted close to 40 Camp HLCs across the nation since 2012.
O’Donnell-Ames has three children – now all young adults – who have lost a parent to ALS before turning 12, so she knew from personal experience how ALS affects a family, especially children.
Thank you to our camp sponsors: the LiveLikeLou Foundation, Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, the ALS Association, and the Sunshine Foundation.
