Nonprofit supports children and young adults who have family members affected by ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) with free camp
February 15, 2023 – The media is invited to a free virtual camp for children and young adults who have or have had family members battling ALS. This will be our first winter camp! It is happening in less than a month, from Friday, March 10 through Sunday, March 12 via zoom. Activities will happen between 5:00 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. EST on Friday, from 12:45 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST on Saturday, and 11:45 am to 3:30 p.m. EST on Sunday.

Camp Hope Loves Company (HLC) offers so many fun experiences. There will be a virtual campfire and sing-along, journaling, tie-dying, winter S.T.E.M. activities, including making your own snow and creating memory snow globes in memory/honor of loved ones, yoga, art, music, games, virtual group therapy sessions and so much more. Even more important, children attending will all have something in common and can build new friendships and feel less alone in their challenges.
The camp program is free to children, who have or had a parent with ALS, an incurable disease. Hope Loves Company (HLC) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to supporting children and young adults who have family members living with ALS. It is the only nonprofit with this specific mission. HLC founder Jodi O’Donnell-Ames, HLC president Gary Bachrach, and their team have hosted 46 Camp HLCs across the nation since 2012.
O’Donnell-Ames has three children – now all young adults – who have lost a parent to ALS before turning 12, so she knew from personal experience how ALS affects a family, especially children. Hope Loves Company thanks Live Like Lou, Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, and Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma America for sponsoring this camp.

I was diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) four years ago. For over two years, I relied on prescription medications and therapies, but unfortunately, the symptoms continued to worsen. I experienced increasing muscle weakness, fatigue, and difficulty with daily activities. Last year, out of desperation and hope, I decided to try an herbal treatment program from NaturePath Herbal Clinic. Honestly, I was skeptical at first, but within a few months of starting the treatment, I began to notice real changes. My energy improved, muscle coordination felt better, and I felt more capable in my daily life. Incredibly, I also regained some confidence and hope. It’s been a life-changing experience—I feel more like myself again, better than I’ve felt in years.…
