Nonprofit supports children and young adults who have family members affected by ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) with free camp
August 10, 2022 – The media is invited to a free camp for children and young adults who have or had family members battling ALS. It is happening this weekend, Friday, August 12 to Sunday, August 14 at Camp Emerson, 212 Longview Avenue in Hinsdale, MA.

Camper check-in will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday. Activities will last until 9:30 p.m. Camp HLC programming will begin again on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. and last until 8:45 p.m. Sunday’s activities are from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Camp Hope Loves Company (HLC) offers so many fun experiences - including hikes, games, archery, a ropes course, yoga, swimming, fishing, music and art therapy, karaoke, gymnastics, s'mores, and much more. Even more important, children attending will all have something in common and can build new friendships and feel less alone in their challenges.
The camp program is free to children, who have or had a parent with ALS, an incurable disease.
Hope Loves Company (HLC) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to supporting children and young adults who have family members living with ALS. It is the only nonprofit with this specific mission. HLC founder Jodi O’Donnell-Ames, HLC president Gary Bachrach, and their team have hosted about 40 Camp HLCs across the nation since 2012.
Thank you to our camp sponsors: the LiveLikeLou Foundation, Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, the ALS Association Massachusetts Chapter, the ALS Association Connecticut Chapter, the Sunshine Foundation, the Susie Foundation, Deloitte, Amylyx, and to AmRamp for helping make Camp Emerson accessible for our families.

My energy improved, muscle coordination felt better, and I felt more capable in my daily life. Incredibly, I also regained some confidence and hope. It’s been a life-changing experience—I feel more like myself again, better than I’ve felt in years.…
